Bright, flowy dresses are as easy as they are chic when it comes to dressing for spring. I’ve always loved floral prints, but as of late I’m also obsessed with the color red. So needless to say when I found this red, floral print dress on the clearance rack at Target for under $14 it was as if my fashion dreams were coming true right before my eyes. While I’m not one to normally wear a dress or blouse with a pussy bow detail, something about this one caught my eye.
Once I tried it on I was hooked and found the dress extremely flattering to my surprise and delight. When styling this dress I decided to keep it simple, but I wanted to edge up the look just a little. I recently scored these Nine West white leather Chelsea boots in the clearance section of Marshall’s for $23. Two of my friends also have them and we’re all obsessed! Even though the dress was cinched at the waist slightly I wanted to add a belt with some hardware to both show my shape and add that dose of edge.
White sunglasses were the final touch for my look and off I went. Although the dress is long sleeve it’s lightweight and the sleeves are slightly sheer so it’s a great spring piece. It can easily be dressed up with heels or even more dressed down with cute and casual sneaks.
I’ve loved pairing sneakers and dresses together since I was little and continue to do so today pairing my Vans or Converse with a flowy dress. I distinctly remember at one point during my high school years I wore a black floral print flowy dress with red low-top Converse and one of my male teachers told me I was ruining the dress with the sneakers. I didn’t think so and to this day I would still beg to differ with him.
One of the most amazing things about fashion and personal style is that you have the ability to make it all your own and break the rules. Fashion isn’t about conforming. It’s about showing off your own style, flare and confidence. Dress for you and always stay stylishly yours.
