While the calendar says fall, the weather has said otherwise as of late with temperatures hitting the 90s last week. It can be hard to dress for fall when the temperature doesn’t match the season and that’s where transitional pieces come into play. Layers are perfect for styling your outfit because you’re not fully committing to a look that will either leave you cold or hot depending on which way the weather forecast sways that day.
When putting this outfit together I started with the basis and basics if you will. I paired one of my favorite black skirts from Target’s Who What Wear line with a Madewell basic white t-shirt. To add a layer of fall to this look I topped off the outfit with a floral blazer with a yellow backdrop.
I wore this outfit last month when the weather was even warmer so I adorned my feet with my Rebels heeled sandals, but this look would also be cute with slides, mules or booties. As we move further into autumn I would also trade my bright blue clutch for a black crossbody.
My blazer is older and I had snagged it on clearance at Nordstrom Rack and the shoes are old from Marshall’s, but I hope you like these other styles as well. Shop similar looks below to style your own transitional look for fall.
